Meet Our Heroes

Success Stories

The young people at the heart of Orient Spirit—learners with disabilities who show up every day with courage, creativity, and determination, building skills that lead to independence and belonging.
Here, they are not defined by limitations, but by growth: as they explore, specialize, create, and share their talents with others, they become makers, performers, mentors, and proud contributors to their communities

  • Leen

Leen discovered her passion for accessory design during her specialization phase. Once an introvert overly attached to her family, she grew into a confident and creative leader. Today, she leads the accessories class, mentors younger students, and supervises job coaching at the Geneva Hotel, modeling independence and responsibility.

  • Mariam D

Mariam, who has Down syndrome, is known for her strong social and communication skills. While at our center, she had a memorable encounter with Her Majesty Queen Rania, where she confidently took the space and expressed herself. She now works at McDonald’s and has been a loyal and valued employee for several years.

  • Muthana

Specializing in mosaic, Muthana has become a calm and steady presence in the workshop. His intricate work is showcased at the center, and he mentors peers in developing fine motor skills and patience.

Vocational Training

The workshop strengthens fine-motor coordination and problem-solving while helping learners practice consistency, responsibility, and follow-through—skills that matter in both work and daily life.
As learners progress, they can prepare items for exhibitions and public events, reinforcing a powerful message: people with disabilities are makers, contributors, and professionals.

  • Aquaponic Gardening

    Sustainable Agriculture

Aquaponic Gardening teaches sustainable agriculture through daily practice—caring for plants and fish, maintaining systems, and learning routines that build discipline and independence.
Because learners see direct results from consistent care, the program naturally reinforces responsibility, teamwork, and real-world problem solving.
This service also strengthens community impact, with expansion efforts supporting both self-sufficiency and meaningful hands-on learning that connects skills to life.

    Woodwork & Fabrication

Carpentry builds practical, hands-on trade skills while strengthening teamwork, problem-solving, and responsibility through structured making and safe tool use.

Through initiatives like student-built furniture projects, the workshop supports OSD’s goal of turning vocational learning into real readiness for work and independent life.

    Culinary & Hospitality

Cooking Class develops functional independence by teaching learners how to follow steps, work safely, and collaborate in a kitchen environment.
The experience strengthens teamwork, routine, and communication—key skills that support employability, especially when paired with job coaching and workplace readiness.
Workshops that use ingredients grown through aquaponics also connect learning across services, showing learners how skills link together in real life.

  • Drawing & Visual Arts

    Crafts & Product Design

Drawing & Visual Arts gives learners space to develop creative skills while strengthening observation, decision-making, and confidence in self-expression.
Because learners communicate in different ways, visual art becomes a powerful tool for emotional expression and identity-building—especially within inclusive, student-centered learning environments.
Artwork can also become a bridge to community visibility through exhibitions and public showcases that highlight ability, not limitation.

  • Fashion Design

    Fashion & Textiles

Fashion Design turns self-expression into a structured skill pathway—supporting learners to explore design concepts, create pieces, and participate in collaborative fashion experiences.
The program develops creativity alongside real-world habits like meeting briefs, following steps, and working toward a finished result.
Fashion also plays a public role at OSD—using runway moments and collaborations to increase visibility and challenge stereotypes around disability and ability.

  • Glass up-cycling

    Crafts & Product Design

Glass up-cycling connects creativity with sustainability, teaching learners how to transform discarded materials into purposeful, beautiful products.
The process supports attention to detail, safe handling, and quality awareness—key habits that transfer into employment and responsible daily living.
By turning “waste” into value, the program reinforces a deeper message at the heart of OSD: when the right support exists, potential becomes possibility.

  • Mosaic Arts

    Crafts & Product Design

Mosaic Arts teaches precision, patience, and visual composition through guided, hands-on creation using small pieces and detailed patterns.

As the work becomes more advanced, mosaics can be showcased in community settings—supporting OSD’s mission of inclusion by making talent visible in public spaces.

    Crafts & Product Design

Pottery & Ceramics is a craft-based service that strengthens fine-motor control, coordination, and focus while giving learners a calming, sensory learning experience.

Finished ceramics can become part of OSD’s public-facing creativity—helping learners experience pride, recognition, and real contribution through what they create.

Our Sewing & Embroidery service teaches learners practical, employable textile skills—while building patience, focus, and independence through structured, hands-on work.
